Dale Carnegie Coaches are living, inspiring examples of the principles taught in How to Win Friends and Influence People. They calmy meet personal and professional challenges with courage and grace, and they glow with an enthusiasm that warms the room. Is Barb Renshaw one of those Coaches? Yes, and… She’s a role model that other Coaches admire.
After completing her 30th 12-week Dale Carnegie Course as a Coach (yes, THIRTY) Barb said “My experience as a Dale Carnegie Coach as taught me to be more patient, that asking others for help is ok, and to let go of the things I can’t control.” The last of which allows her to “live in the moment and concentrate on things I can impact.” Judging by the impact she’s had on hundreds of participants and dozens of Dale Carnegie team members; Barb clearly lives in the moment.
A fellow Coach of Barb’s, Ken Dove, said “I think I could write a book on her.” and we recently received a book’s worth of admiration for Barb from people she’s impacted on her Dale Carnegie journey. Here’s the very abbreviated version:
“Not only has she helped people in the class she has also helped me many times by listening to me and providing that support I desperately needed during some rough times at work.”
Laura Fletcher Riege:
“Many times, due to Barb’s coaching, participants have been top vote getters and gone on the excel in not only the class but life. I don’t know of this because of Barb, she is far to humble. I know of these stories and situations because of participants letting me know, and them mentioning this in their Graduation talks.”
“Throughout each class, Barbra has motivated me to work on memory skills. I was always in awe of the things she could remember when we did the class to improve memory.”
“Barb was one of my coaches when I was a participant. She introduced herself to me as we were waiting in the lobby. She was so kind, warm, and welcoming. She made me feel comfortable before the class even began!”
While working with Barb at NORMA, “… what made Barb EXTRAORDINARY, was her willingness to put others first and ALWAYS being willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She would put her work aside and come help anyone who was falling, and she did it without thought. Barb is an amazing person and a true and loyal friend to all.”
“Barb is always there to lift people up and to remind them how special they are. She has an unmatched level of emotional intelligence and knows exactly who needs help.”
“Barb understands people’s strengths and works on helping us to improve them. She is extremely patient and will sit with you numerous times to help you out.”
“Barb’s first impression on me was so kind. She was genuinely interested in my peace and success. She gently, yet eagerly, asked if she could help me or be an ear for my talks. She never made me feel any question was less than important. What a kind heart that we all can emulate.”
“Barb has always brought organization and structure to the coaching team along with an attitude of getting things done. She allowed me, as the trainer, to be fully focused on our class members. I knew I could count on the team, since Barb was there.”
“Barb brings an endless supply of enthusiasm to the class each week. I’ve lost track of the number of times that she has lost her voice because she holds nothing back. I love hearing Barb’s full talk in Session 5B after we’ve already done the warmup. Has she lost her voice by this point? You bet she has! Does that slow down her energy and enthusiasm when she is speaking with conviction? No way!!! What a great role model for the class showing us all how to keep that energy going all the way to the end!”
Barb – Congratulations and THANK YOU for living in the moment and having a positive impact on our lives.
